Taika David Cohen is a New Zealand filmmaker, actor, and comedian. He is professionally known as Taika Waititi. He is the winner of many awards and also earned nominations including Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Grammy Award, and many others are on the list.
He is notable for appearing in ‘Boy’ (2010) and ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’ (2016) have each been the top-grossing New Zealand films.
Career
Taika Waititi has made appearances in feature films, short movies, web series, and telefilms as well. The short film he made in 2003, Two Cars, One Night, earned him an Academy Award nomination.
During the awards ceremony, he famously pretended to fall asleep while the nominations were read. He released his first feature film, a romantic comedy called Eagle vs Shark, in U.S. theatres for limited distribution in 2007.
It stars Waititi’s then-spouse, Loren Horsley. In the same year, Waititi wrote and directed an episode of the TV show Flight of the Conchords.
