Mika Camarena is an American activist and wife of a late Mexican-born undercover agent of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Enrique S. ‘Kiki’ Camarena Salazar, who was captured, tortured, and killed by drug traffickers in Mexico in early 1985. Mika, a former skin-care specialist, campaigned all her life to increase opioid awareness around the world because her husband felt that giving up the drug war would make drug cartels win. She is the president of the Enrique S. Camarena Educational Foundation, which she established in 2004 with her eldest son Enrique and other retired DEA agents. She frequently talks about opioid literacy in schools and libraries around the country. She is played by Alyssa Diaz in the Netflix series ‘Narcos: Mexico.’
