She described how she and four others had been running away from their village, which had been robbed and set alight by a Meitei mob when they were set upon by another Meitei gang, who then killed two members of their group.
A source in Manipur said that the two women, one in her twenties and the other in her fifties, belonged to the Kuki community. One of them was gang-raped in a paddy field in Thoubal police district.

The video showed two Kuki women being paraded naked and raped to shake the conscience of the world. Reportedly, the younger woman’s father and brother were bludgeoned to death by the assaulters when they tried to oppose the assault on the two women.
It has been reported that the attackers were made up of radicalized Meitei youths belonging to two armed outfits, Arambai Tenggol and Meitei Leepun.
