By David Craig

Is Mick Schumacher Leaving F1? People started to wonder what happened to the star driver after rumors began to fly around.

Several media outlets have reported that we may have seen the last of Mick in his racing career as people start to wonder, “Is Mick Schumacher Leaving F1?”

Mick Schumacher is a German racing driver who currently serves as the reserve driver for the Mercedes AMG Formula One Team and McLaren.

He competed in Formula One for Haas F1 Team during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

Schumacher’s racing career began in karting in 2008, and he advanced to the German ADAC Formula 4 by 2015.

He won the 2018 FIA F3 European Championship and then progressed to Formula 2 in 2019, where he won the 2020 championship.

Schumacher is the son of Michael Schumacher, a seven-time Formula One World Champion, and he is also the nephew of Ralf Schumacher and cousin of David Schumacher.

Is Mick Schumacher Leaving F1?

As the son of one of the most popular racing drivers ever, there was always a big focus on his career of Mick. As soon as rumors about his potential retirement started, people pondered and asked, “Is Mick Schumacher Leaving F1?”

Meanwhile, the speculation was put to rest when Mick Schumacher dispelled speculations that he would join the DTM after leaving the Haas F1 team in 2023.

Nico Hulkenberg will replace Schumacher on the team as of the 2022 season, with Kevin Magnussen continuing in the other seat as per the terms of his multi-year deal. This was announced before the 2022 season finale in Abu Dhabi.

Given that there are no openings on the F1 grid, should Logan Sargeant get enough super license points to claim the final position at Williams, Schumacher will most likely not compete in Formula 1 in 2023.

However, the Germans must still prepare to move to a different category.

Mick Schumacher Career Details

As the son of Formula One’s all-time most successful driver, Michael Schumacher, Mick Schumacher was always going to draw much attention from the public when he started racing.

The young racer’s family initially registered him for competitions under the surname Betsch, his mother Corinna Schumacher’s maiden name. Still, as he rose through the rankings, they gave him the “Mick Junior” moniker to lessen the strain.

Born in 1999, after his Father had won two of his eventual seven world titles, Mick Schumacher debuted in German Formula 4 in 2015, transitioning from karting to car racing.

That led to a promotion into what was then known as European F3. While competing in F3 for the first time, Schumacher purposefully refrained from using his last name to promote himself.

By doing so, he escaped intense media attention and finished 12th. Nonetheless, he demonstrated his accomplishments in his own right by winning the title in his second year after a contentious struggle with Dan Ticktum.

Schumacher advanced to Formula 2 in 2019 and joined the Ferrari Driver School the same year. He participated in his maiden Formula One test for the Scuderia and Alfa Romeo during the Bahrain in-season test. Despite being the only rookie in the trial, he turned in encouraging performances and finished behind Max Verstappen.
