Jackson Wang, a renowned figure in the music world, has recently found himself amid speculations regarding his religious beliefs.

There has been a growing misconception among some fans and followers that Wang might be a Muslim.

However, multiple credible sources have verified that the singer identifies as Christian.

This assumption regarding his faith might have inadvertently stemmed from a recent controversy.

Jackson Wang has been on the receiving end of worldwide criticism from fans for alleged Islamophobia.

The situation escalated when he delivered a speech touching the media’s perceived bias against China.

He passionately spoke about people’s misconceptions about China due to media influence and emphasized that an actual visit to the country could change many perspectives.

Nevertheless, his comments about the Uyghur Muslims attracted significant backlash.

Wang suggested that the media has been presenting a distorted picture of the condition of Uyghurs in China.

His statement led many to believe he was undermining the reported challenges faced by the Uyghur community.

Jackson Wang Ethnicity And Origin

Born in Hong Kong on 28 March 1994, Wang comes from a family with a solid athletic background.

Both his parents were accomplished athletes: his father, Wang Ruiji, was a fencer, and his mother, Sophia Chow, was a gymnast.

Wang began his journey in fencing when he was just ten years old. His dedication and talent saw him securing several accolades as a Hong Kong national fencing team member.

He clinched the top spot at the Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championship in 2011.

The rapper also has ties to Hong Kong, China, and South Korea. He is fluent in multiple languages, including English.

At an early age, he was noticed by a South Korean agency, and his career began right then. 

He holds deep pride in his Chinese heritage. In August 2019, amidst the backdrop of the 2019–20 Hong Kong protests, Wang took to his official Weibo account to express his sentiments. 

He posted a picture of the Chinese flag, referring to himself as “one of 1.4 billion guardians of the Chinese flag.” 

This was in response to an incident where a People’s Republic of China flag was taken down and discarded into the Victoria Harbour during the protests.

Jackson Wang’s Career

In January 2014, Jackson debuted as a member of the South Korean boy group ‘Got7’ with the track “Girls Girls Girls” from their EP ‘Got It.’

That same year, he ventured into reality TV by appearing on the SBS show ‘Roommate.’ His notable performance on the show earned him the ‘Newcomers Award’ at the 2014 ‘SBS Entertainment Awards.’

Between 2014 and 2015, Jackson marked his presence on various South Korean variety shows. In May 2015, he took on the role of MC for the SBS Inkigayo music show.

Additionally, he participated in ‘Got7’s first concert in Seoul in 2015, showcasing his self-written tracks, “I Love It” and “We Only Live Once.”
