Bill O’Brien is an American football coach who rose to prominence as the head coach and general manager of the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL), a position he held for over six years, from 2014 to 2020, when the Texans sacked him. Following a disastrous 0-4 start to the 2020 NFL season, his job as a head coach came to an end.

O’Brien’s coaching career began in 1993 with Brown University, and he hasn’t stopped experimenting with his job for nearly 27 years as of 2020, working with over 7 clubs. Brown, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Duke, New England Patriots, Penn State, and Houston Texans are among the teams with which O’Brien has worked. In 2012, he was voted Big Ten Coach of the Year, as well as the Paul “Bear” Bryant Award for the best head coach in the NCAA.
